Mom note: I beat really well, but not until very thick. I just pour it over the brownies and it will harden as it cools.

Brownies

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup},{ butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs room temp
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 can hersheys syrup 1-1/3 cup syrup in 1 can, large can 16 ounce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • pecans coarsely chopped, optional

Preparation

  1. Cream butter and sugar.
  2. Add eggs one at a time and beat well.
  3. Add flour and chocolate alternately, ending with chocolate.
  4. Add vanilla and nuts.
  5. Bake at 350 degrees Fahrenheit for 25-30 minutes in greased and floured 10x13 pan.

Brownie Frosting

Ingredients

  • 6 tablespoons butter
  • 6 tablespoons milk
  • 1 1/3 cups sugar
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips

Preparation

  1. Stir together butter, milk, and sugar, and boil for 1 minute.
  2. Remove from stove.
  3. Add chocolate chips.
  4. Beat until spreadable.

Chocolate Ganache Cake

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 4 eggs room temp
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 can hersheys syrup 1-1/3 cup syrup in 1 can, large can 16 ounce
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • pecans coarsely chopped, optional, not used in cake

Preparation

  1. Mix cake as above.
  2. Bake at 325 degrees Fahrenheit in 8 inch spring-form pan for 40 to 45 minutes or until just set in the middle.
  3. It will be just pulled away from the edges of the cake pan.
  4. Do not over bake.
  5. Let cool thoroughly in the pan.

Ganache Frosting

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup heavy cream
  • 8 ounces semisweet chocolate chips good quality
  • 1 teaspoon instant coffee granules

Preparation

  1. Cook the heavy cream, chocolate chips, and instant coffee in top of double boiler over simmering water until smooth and warm, stirring occasionally.
  2. Pour glaze evenly over the top, making sure to cover entire cake and sides.
  3. Decorate the center top with candied violets or gently crumbled edible gold leaf if desired.
