At Feegi Recipes, we respect your privacy and are committed to protecting your personal information. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our service.

Personal Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Name
  • Profile photo (if provided)
  • Authentication information through Firebase Authentication

Usage Data

We automatically collect information about how you interact with our service, including:

  • Recipes you create, save, or view
  • Meal plans you create
  • Interactions with other users (friends, family connections)
  • Categories and preferences
  • Device information and browser type
  • IP address and general location data

Payment Information

When you purchase credits, payment processing is handled by Stripe. We do not store your full payment card details. Stripe processes your payment information according to their privacy policy.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve our service
  • Process your transactions and manage your account
  • Enable social features like sharing recipes with friends and family
  • Send you service-related communications
  • Monitor and analyze usage patterns to improve user experience
  • Detect and prevent fraud or abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations

3. Analytics and Tracking

We use PostHog, an analytics service, to understand how users interact with our application. PostHog collects information such as:

  • Page views and navigation patterns
  • Feature usage and interactions
  • Error reports and performance metrics
  • User identification (when you are logged in)

PostHog's privacy practices are governed by their privacy policy. We use PostHog in "identified_only" mode, meaning profiles are only created for users who have logged in.

4. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using:

  • MongoDB for database storage
  • Google Cloud Storage for file uploads (recipe images, etc.)
  • Firebase Authentication for secure user authentication

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or electronic storage is 100% secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Sharing Your Information

We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information only in the following circumstances:

  • With your consent (e.g., when you share recipes with friends or family)
  • With service providers who assist us in operating our service (e.g., Stripe, PostHog, Google Cloud)
  • To comply with legal obligations or respond to legal requests
  • To protect our rights, privacy, safety, or property
  • In connection with a business transfer (merger, acquisition, etc.)

AI Assistant Integrations

Feegi lets you connect third-party AI assistants (such as Claude, ChatGPT, or Gemini) to your account so they can read your recipe collection on your behalf. This connection is entirely optional and is only established after you explicitly sign in and grant access on Feegi's consent screen.

What data the assistant sends to Feegi (tool inputs)

When you ask a connected assistant about your recipes, it may send Feegi the following query parameters — none of which contain personal information:

  • A text search query (e.g., "chicken soup")
  • A category name filter (e.g., "Dinner")
  • A recipe ID to retrieve full details
  • A result-count limit

Feegi does not log or retain these queries beyond the scope of serving the individual request.

What data Feegi returns to the assistant (tool outputs)

In response to assistant requests, Feegi returns recipe data from your collection. Depending on the tool called, this includes:

  • Recipe name and description
  • Category names
  • Nutritional information per serving: calories, protein (g), carbs (g), fat (g), fiber (g), sugar (g), sodium (mg), and serving size
  • Ingredients (quantity, unit, name, and preparation note per ingredient)
  • Step-by-step directions
  • Source URL or attribution (the original recipe source)

The assistant has read-only access and cannot create, modify, or delete your data. Feegi does not return internal identifiers, session tokens, account details, or any information beyond the recipe fields listed above.

How returned data is used and retained
  • Recipe data transmitted to the assistant is governed by that assistant provider's own privacy policy and terms — not this one. We do not control how the provider stores or uses data once it leaves Feegi.
  • We do not sell this data. We share it only at your explicit direction by connecting an assistant.
  • The underlying recipe data remains stored in your Feegi account subject to our standard retention practices. Revoking an assistant's access removes Feegi's ability to share your data with that provider going forward, but does not automatically delete data the provider may have already stored — refer to the provider's privacy policy for those controls.
  • You can review and revoke any connected assistant at any time from Account → Integrations. Revoking immediately cuts off that assistant's access to your Feegi data.

6. Your Rights and Choices

You have the right to:

  • Access and review your personal information
  • Update or correct your account information
  • Delete your account and associated data
  • Opt out of certain data collection (where technically feasible)
  • Request a copy of your data

7. Cookies and Local Storage

We use cookies and local storage to:

  • Maintain your login session
  • Store your preferences
  • Analyze usage patterns

You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling cookies may affect your ability to use certain features of our service.

Our service is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe we have collected information from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

9. International Data Transfers

Your information may be transferred to and processed in countries other than your country of residence. These countries may have data protection laws that differ from those in your country. By using our service, you consent to the transfer of your information to these countries.
