Patties
Ingredients
- 1 pound(s) 80% lean ground beef
- 1/2 medium onion grated
- 1/2 cup(s) unseasoned dried breadcrumbs
- 1 large egg
- 2 tablespoon(s) ketchup
- 1 tablespoon(s) country Dijon mustard
- 1 teaspoon(s) Worcestershire sauce
- Kosher salt and freshy grated black pepper
- 2 tablespoon(s) canola oil
Preparation
- Combine beef, onion, breadcrumbs, egg, ketchup, mustard, and Worcestershire in a bowl. Gently mix with your hands, being careful not to overmix. Shape into 4 patties. Season with salt and pepper.
- Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add patties and cook, turning once, until brown and cooked through, 8 to 12 minutes. Transfer to a plate and tent with foil to keep warm; reserve skillet.
Gravy
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoon(s) unsalted butter
- 1/2 medium onion thinly sliced
- 4 ounce(s) mushrooms sliced
- 3 tablespoon(s) all-purpose flour
- 1 cup(s) beef stock
- 1/2 cup(s) heavy cream or whole milk
- Kosher salt and freshly ground black pepper
Preparation
- Reduce heat to medium-low. Add butter, onion, and mushrooms to reserved skillet. Cook, stirring occasionally, until soft, 5 to 6 minutes.
- Add flour and cook, stirring, until browned, 2 to 3 minutes.
- Gradually whisk in stock and milk. Simmer until thickened, 8 to 10 minutes.
- Season with salt and pepper.
