Marilyn McCullough's grandmother's recipe via Marianne


Aunt Helen's secret ingredient is 1/8 teaspoon of Mapleine maple flavoring.

Ingredients

  • 3 eggs beaten slightly
  • 1 1/2 cups pumpkin
  • 1 1/4 teaspoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 cups brown sugar firm
  • 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoons ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoons nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 1/2 cups canned evaporated milk
  • 1/8 teaspoon Mapleine maple flavoring

Preparation

  1. In a large mixer bowl, beat the eggs slightly on speed 4 for 1 minute.
  2. Add pumpkin, cinnamon, brown sugar, white sugar, salt, ginger, nutmeg, vanilla, and evaporated milk.
  3. Beat on speed 4 until blended for 1 1/2 minutes, scraping the bowl occasionally.
  4. Pour into a chilled pie shell.
  5. Bake in a hot oven at 450 degrees Fahrenheit for 15 minutes.
  6. Then reduce the temperature to 350 degrees Fahrenheit and bake for about 45 minutes, until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
