Meatballs

Ingredients

  • 1 pkg onion dry soup mix
  • 1 eggs beaten
  • 1/2 cup bread crumbs soft fresh
  • 1 1/2 tsp dried basil and oregano leaves
  • 1/2 tsp dry thyme
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1 1/2 lbs lean ground beef

Preparation

  1. Preheat oven to 350F.
  2. Mix everything together with clean hands (use soapy hot water on your hands).
  3. Form into about 28 balls.
  4. Place on a tin foil lining a baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 20 minutes or until cooked, turning once.
  6. Remove from oven, add sauce (see below) and cook for 30-35 minutes longer.

Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 2 Tbsp corn starch
  • 1 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • 2/3 cup ketchup
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1/2 cup vinegar

Preparation

  1. Combine water, vinegar, brown sugar and ketchup.
  2. Cook over medium heat until boiling.
  3. In a separate cup, mix cornstarch, water and soy sauce.
  4. Add to boiling mixture and boil for 4-5 minutes longer.
  5. Pour sauce over meatballs.
