Small Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 3/4 cups shortening
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup water

Preparation

  1. Mix together flour, sugar, and salt.
  2. Cut in shortening to size of peas.
  3. Blend egg, vinegar, and water. Combine with dry ingredients.
  4. Form into ball. Refrigerate about 15 minutes.
  5. Roll fairly thin.
  6. Leftover dough should be formed into single crust amounts, wrapped individually and frozen in a freezer bag. Can be frozen ONLY for a short amount of time. The crust gets weird if too long.

Large Recipe

Ingredients

  • 5 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 pound shortening
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tablespoon vinegar
  • cold water

Preparation

  1. Combine dry ingredients.
  2. Cut in shortening.
  3. Combine egg, vinegar in measuring cup and fill with cold water to make 1 cup.
  4. Add to dry ingredients, combine.
  5. Form into ball. Roll crusts.
  6. Leftover should be formed into single crust amounts, wrapped individually and frozen in a freezer bag. Can be frozen ONLY for a short amount of time. The crust gets weird if too long.
