Sauce

Ingredients

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 tablespoons flour
  • 1/4 teaspoons salt
  • 1/2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoons prepared mustard
  • freshly ground pepper to taste
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 cups cheddar cheese shredded

Preparation

  1. Melt butter in 4 cup measure on high for 1 minute.
  2. Stir in flour, salt, Worcestershire, mustard, and pepper. Gradually stir in milk.
  3. Cook uncovered on high for 3 minutes. Stir. Cook on high for 1 minute until smooth and thickened.
  4. Stir in 1 1/2 cups cheddar cheese.

Assembly

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup uncooked macaroni
  • 1/4 cup cracker crumbs
  • tomato slices optional

Preparation

  1. Combine sauce and cooked macaroni. Pour into a 2 quart casserole. Combine remaining cheese and cracker crumbs. Sprinkle on top.
  2. Cook uncovered on bake for 5-6 minutes or until mixture is bubbling.
  3. Let stand, covered, 5 minutes before serving. Top with tomato slices if desired.
