Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/2 cup onion finely chopped
  • garlic crushed (I use more)
  • 2 Tablespoons parsley finely chopped
  • 1/2 lb ground chuck (very lean hamburger)
  • 1/4 lb ground sausage (or finely chopped)
  • 2 lb Italian tomatoes 3oz can, undrained
  • 2 cans tomato paste (6oz)
  • 1 teaspoon dry oregano
  • 1 Tablespoon salt (I use less)
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 2 Tablespoons sugar (I use less)

Preparation

  1. Saute onion and garlic; add ground chuck and brown; add rest and simmer for 25 or 30 minutes.

Layers

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ricotta cheese
  • 1 lb mozzarella (slices thinly, or grated)
  • parmesan cheese
  • lasagne noodles (I don’t pre-cook mine, but recipe says to do so)

Preparation

  1. Layer as: sauce, noodles, ricotta, mozzarella, parmesan - - repeat.
  2. Bake 45-50 minutes in 325* oven. Let stand to set-up before cutting.
