Dough

Ingredients

  • 2 cups honey creamed or liquid
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 1 1/2 cups Butter
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 1/2 cups milk
  • 9 cups flour
  • 3 tsp baking soda
  • 2 tsp cardamom
  • 1 tsp ginger
  • 1 1/2 tsp cloves
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 2 tsp baking powder

Preparation

  1. In the microwave, heat honey for appx. 3 minutes.
  2. Add sugar and heat for another 3 minutes.
  3. Cream margarine and eggs, add honey mixture then add milk.
  4. Sift together dry ingredients.
  5. Mix both mixtures together.
  6. Pour into a bowl and cover with a lid or plastic wrap.
  7. Let dough rest for at least one day at room temperature (on counter, not fridge).
  8. Roll out with rolling pin and make sure the dough is thick.
  9. Use cookie cutters.
  10. Bake at 350°F until golden brown, about 18 minutes.

Icing

Ingredients

  • icing sugar
  • water

Preparation

  1. Mix icing sugar and water, more sugar than water.
  2. Brush cookies right when they get out of the oven.
  3. Let cool… but best when warm.
