Dough
Ingredients
- 2 cups honey creamed or liquid
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 1/2 cups Butter
- 2 eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 9 cups flour
- 3 tsp baking soda
- 2 tsp cardamom
- 1 tsp ginger
- 1 1/2 tsp cloves
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp baking powder
Preparation
- In the microwave, heat honey for appx. 3 minutes.
- Add sugar and heat for another 3 minutes.
- Cream margarine and eggs, add honey mixture then add milk.
- Sift together dry ingredients.
- Mix both mixtures together.
- Pour into a bowl and cover with a lid or plastic wrap.
- Let dough rest for at least one day at room temperature (on counter, not fridge).
- Roll out with rolling pin and make sure the dough is thick.
- Use cookie cutters.
- Bake at 350°F until golden brown, about 18 minutes.
Icing
Preparation
- Mix icing sugar and water, more sugar than water.
- Brush cookies right when they get out of the oven.
- Let cool… but best when warm.
